CLICKS&TWEETS 4 DOLPHINS - Twitter Media Outreach

CLICKS&TWEETS 4 DOLPHINS
TWITTER PROGRAM FOR TAIJI DOLPHINS DIRECTED TO GLOBAL MEDIA
FOR EXPERIENCED AND NEW TWEETERS

Welcome to the Taiji Dolphin Action Group Twitter program.  This is not a traditional tweet deck, but a real time drive hunt Tweetstorm and the messages are directed exclusively to media, with little exception.  It’s fast-paced and very satisfying for the passionate activist.

This program is aimed at global media outlets based on Cove Guardian tweets which occur in real time over the course of a hunt The real-time nature of the tweets will bring greater awareness of the inhumanity of the entire drive hunt process, from the cruel and physically damaging drive, to the separation of the pod, holding in the cove, the captives that are taken, the bloodshed of the elders dragged to the butcher house, the babies chased out to sea.  This is our chance to tell the world and to tell it as it happens.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TWITTER ACCOUNT, set one up and create a little profile.  Using a dolphin photo as your profile image quickly identifies you, along with a brief bio.  Here is a helpful link: https://support.twitter.com/articles/215585-getting-started-with-twitter

A number of TDAG members are already twitter users and would be happy to answer any questions you have along the way.  @bolloyoga, @rattusaustralis

Once you’re set up on Twitter, if you prefer to use a tweet aid until you get the hang of things, the TDAG TWITTER STARTER KIT  is at the end of the media address list section.

OBJECTIVE:  Contact and educate using the TDAG global media list using real time Taiji Cove Guardian tweets during dolphin hunts.  In this way, each user would tweet 10-20 times over the course of a hunt to each outlet, for the purpose of TRENDING.  Trending is created by lots of tweets using the same words/hashtags in a relatively short period of time.

Why trend?  Media is a world of fast-paced action, always looking for relevant news, and Twitter helps news outlets see real time what people are communicating.  From TDAG founder, Steven Thompson:

"A series of significant conversations with mass media insiders took place yesterday. The topic was how to get dolphin hunt real time information into reporters hands and get it approved by editors. The answer was surprisingly simple: TWEET IT. Twitter is now the gold standard for how editors can prioritize the 100's of stories that cross their in-boxes every day.”

PROCESS:
1.  FOLLOW COVE GUARDIANS ON TWITTER, THEN TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS.  By clicking/tapping the little wheel to the left of the "following" box, you will see the option menu.  This will deliver sound and text when CG tweets to whatever device you are using, desktop, pad, smartphone.  On your device, go to SETTINGS, SOUNDS, TWEET and choose your sound when a new tweet comes through.

2.  Starting with the first tweet of the hunt "boats out",
--Double click/tap the tweet and copy
--Click/tap the little feather in the right hand corner of the screen,
--Delete "@coveguardians" and paste
--Add #taiji_dag at the end and recopy
--Your new tweet now will look like this:
Boats leave harbor to hunt dolphins/whales #tweet4taiji #taiji_dag

--Now add as many media addresses as you can on the front end until you come as close to 140 characters as possible.  The auto-counter will tell you when you've gone over, or still have space.

--Here is an example of your finished tweet:
      .@cnn .@cnni .@cnnbrk .@brisbanetimes .@CarolineKennedy .@latimes  Boats leave harbor to hunt dolphins/whales #tweet4taiji #taiji_DAG

--Tap or click the tweet button to send.

3,  Click/tap the feather again, paste and add the next 2-5 addresses in the list as space permits, and paste the same message as the first.  Repeat as fast as possible down the list of addresses until the next tweet from Cove Guardian and start all over again with the second tweet.

NOW STAY WITH US!
It's very simple, and you can get into a rhythm pretty fast.  The goal is to run thru as many of the media addresses as possible with each tweet.  You are encouraged to run top to bottom, bottom to top, concentrate on a region, mix it up.

NOTE:  A brief message is ideal.  That allows you to add more addresses on the front end of a tweet, and streamline the process, which aids trending.     Sometimes it is helpful to paraphrase the original tweet from CG.  For instance:

ORIGINAL COVE GUARDIAN TWEET:
Watch the video on our Facebook page for the update on the captured pilot whales and their declining health. https://t.co/58T4Dv501t  #tweet4taiji

PARAPHRASED TWEET:
Watch video Cove Guardian FB Pg Captive pilot whales declining health https://t.co/58T4Dv501t #tweet4taiji #taiji_dag

Paraphrasing allows you to add 2 or more additional address to front of the paraphrased message, so you can work trough the addresses more quickly.  SPACES count towards the maximum 140 characters.

RULE OF THUMB:  Remove unnecessary words spaces little/no punctuation use CAPS new sentence.

WHY NOT JUST RETWEET? It sure would be easier, but not effective for this campaign.  When you retweet, you message your followers, but it will lack the media addresses and  IT DOES NOT COUNT TOWARDS TRENDING.  We can trend and trend regularly with a little teamwork.  We can get the word out to the world in a whole new way.

California Orcas Must Wait!!

They expect us to wait!!

by Steven Thompson, TDAG
April 8, 2014

Breaking News...Breaking Hearts...California Orcas Must Wait

Orca Bill Hearing today: Orcas get diddly squat.

California Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee Chair Anthony Rendon asked Assemblyman Richard Bloom to send the bill to at least a year in "interim study to the middle of next year" and he agreed.

Result: Orcas stay in a human designed hell. Outrage!

It appears to me that this decision was predetermined by this committee...Like the change was just too radical for people with the money to deal with.

This gives all people who care, a lot of time to cogitate and talk around and around OR we can act.

I can see why Sea Shepherd is NOT a lobbying organization.

At least we can leave our thoughts here on the Sea World Page everyday.

At least we can Occupy the Gates of Sea World.

Perhaps there are free-Orca-loving people who would like to work at Sea World in an undercover capacity to do what they can from the inside...

Occupy me

Sometimes Rules Need to Be...

Be the catalyst for change...do what you can
by Steven Thompson, TDAG
January 21, 2013

Can you feel the tension in the dolphin ethers?

All these Taiji dolphin murders this week, vegan non-violent activists being denied visas into Japan, corrupt buyers drop meat in the street from their truck as they speed away in haste: the dolphin killing mafia is afraid.

We are all on the cusp of a full televised whale war in the Southern Oceans. The War is COMING.

“Life is short, break the rules.”  -Mark Twain

The Rock & Roll world is feeling the change through the eyes of the Chili Peppers. at their concerts. Imagine this band and others coming to Taiji. Hold the vision.

It is those like these Sea Shepherds, ready to enforce where governments fail, who make the difference. May we always live in a time of Sea Shepherds. May we live in a time, where we are all Shepherds of the Sea and laws no longer need to be broken.

A big THANK YOU to the volunteers in Taiji today guarding the Cove and monitoring the hunt. Without groups like Sea Shepherd and individual dolphin activists all over the world, we simply wouldn't know.

New Taiji Dolphin Strategy: Radical Volunteers Needed

File:Radical axis orthogonal circles.svg
Radical axis
Watching this 90 minute film will change how you think about activism.

by Steven Thompson, TDAG
January 15, 2013

Are you sick of Red Cove Days? An alternate approach surfaces.

Are you ready?

The dolphin killing mafia is certainly not ready for this.

Watching this 90 minute film will change how you think about activism.

There is new discussion about people coming to Taiji...NOT with any organized group. This time people are coming to Taiji for the purpose of getting arrested and then choosing a radical course of action.

It has never been easier to get arrested in Taiji. So far I count six dolphin activists who have spent more than several weeks in jail for the cause of dolphin freedom in Japan. Personally, I have been detained after I was assaulted by the hunters. Yes, I lost my freedom because I was assaulted. But this was just for a few hours and with ringing in my ears. More than a dozen Sea Shepherd volunteers have also been detained for up to a day.

Alex Cornelissen and Allison Lance Watson were first to go to jail in Japan in 2003 (22 Days). Erwin Vermeulen next in 2012 (64 Days). Nils Greskewitz (18 days) , and Michael Q. Todd (54 Days) followed by the end of the year.

There is certain to be another person in the sunless Taiji (Shingu) jail. We hope they watch this movie.

If this is someone you know, send them this link to Hunger, an award winning movie of a successful strategy against a more powerful opponent.

Doing a 30-day fast would garner massive media attention. There are people who have done this. It is of course, not as dramatic as Bobby Sands...you don't need to give your life...just give more than any have done before.

We are looking for the one in a million volunteer/s. All expenses paid.

Think about this...watch the movie...If you are ready...we will discuss timing...you would not be expected to pay for this yourself. This will be organized off of public pages so that the volunteer/s get into the country...there is also the mater of getting arrested.  The jail in Shingu has no sunlight and involves solitary confinement without reading materials. I know this is torture for many of us.

Film on youtube.

A big THANK YOU to the volunteers in Taiji today guarding the Cove and monitoring the hunt. Without groups like Sea Shepherd, Save Japan Dolphins, and individual dolphin activists all over the world, we simply wouldn't know.

Keep the Taiji Dolphins in Your Prayers

Swimming Free away from Taiji

by Steven Thompson, TDAG
November 27, 2012

Are dolphins intelligent? Are dolphins spiritual? To those who believe...to those who are ready to give it a try. As you go to sleep or meditate today, please send a psychic message to the dolphin pod members who escaped today:

STAY AWAY FROM TAIJI! ...IF YOU HEAR THE BANGING, GO UNDER...OUT TO SEA

An entire pod of dolphins ESCAPED certain death today. They outsmarted the most ruthless technologically advanced dolphin murderers on the planet: the Taiji Killers, those who eat dolphins. There was no massacre today.

How do you think the escaped pod feels now? Happy? Exhausted? Did anyone die in the mad rush to escape? Are their hearts beating back to normal? Where will they swim to next?

Many of us sat on the edge of our seats waiting for the #tweet4taiji. We waited and waited...drank a cup a tea...felt like throwing up...not working...not sleeping...knowing the dolphins were swimming a race...a high speed marathon where there can only be one loser. And losing means you watch your friends and family get their throats cut or their spines pithed...blood still filling the water...screams piercing your soul...mothers and babies dragged by their tails, drowned in agony. This is the vision that may await the dolphins if they swim by Taiji.

Please envision the dolphins who escaped today, communicating with other dolphins to stay away from Taiji. Please envision the awareness of the Taiji hunt to spread among all dolphins everywhere. Please share the vision that dolphins must swim under the wall of sound and back out to sea.

Please tell the dolphins that you care...care enough to stay away from Taiji. Taiji is no place for a happy and free dolphin.

Swim fast and free
Away from Taiji
Under the sound and out to sea
Telling all dolphins is the key.

A big THANK YOU to the volunteers in Taiji today guarding the Cove and monitoring the hunt. Without groups like Sea Shepherd, Save Japan Dolphins, and individual dolphin activists all over the world, we simply wouldn't know.
