Summer Paul Watson Rumors

Freer by the day!

by Steven Thompson, TDAG
Find Pauldo!  Has he jumped bail?  Is he on the lamb?  Is he saving lambs now?

Rumor has been proven false by German conservationists working behind the scenes.

Paul Watson most certainly did NOT jump bail.

Reading is such fun...rumors fly...the challenge to confirm or deny gives some of us something to do.

Some highly detailed speculation in Costa Rica here by people who could be uncovering the actual criminal finner links instead.

If I had a chance to bet on the case, I'd say the case will fade away by Costa Rican finners' inaction in about 17 days.

Take a vacation! Watch Moby! There is no news!

ERROR CORRECTION: We were wrong. Capt. Paul Watson found it necessary to leave Germany and forfeit his bail money. His current whereabouts are unknown. We wish him happiness, and the best of luck. We will carry on your work!

  1. Who is most at fault? The one who starts the rumor or the many who pass it around like a dirty needle? Some people are addicted to gossip. Confirmation of facts are the least of their concerns. It's a drama party that they want to be a part of and they get a thrill from it.

    1. Hi Holise!
I feel that we all want to make a difference somehow, someway reaching beyond what we know we can do or say. Sometimes we hit on a solid way to make a ringing and sometimes we just keep swinging.

  2. It looks like WHY is a better question than IF because Paul is gone. I was wrong. If it had been a bet, I'd have lost.

I think the roots of the leaks are interesting. I conclude that Tico Times had the best information from the start and was not afraid to print it.

    1. It looks like Tico Times in CR broke the story on July 23rd. If this were a morning edition paper, then it took them about 22 hours to publish after Paul did not sign-in at the Frankfurt police station 5:00pm the previous day (July 22nd).

    2. Then The Costa Rica Star printed this piece about 24 hours later but fueled speculation, not confirmation. It included a denial from Paul's attorney in CR.

It was at this time, that friends in Germany concluded that this was indeed a false rumor. (We were wrong)

    3. Finally, The German Police issued an official report (long link below in German) on July 25th (three days after Paul didn't show) that what the Tico Times had reported was true. Paul Watson's location is unknown. After this, CNN, Reuters, AFP, etc, published.
